Would anyone happen to know why Temple Emanuel was torn down (on the corner of 49th Street & 14th Ave. in the Boro Park neighborhood)? Also, does anyone happen to know whatever happened to Rabbi Baruch Silverstein from Temple Emanuel? (Baruch Silverstein was the Rabbi @ Temple Emanuel back in the 1970's...) Reply #1 From: Nanci Bramson (nancibram@aol.com) Date: 05/05/2009 I know it has been two years, but I just saw this message. Baruch Silverstein was my grandfather and my hero. He died in 1995 just 6 weeks before he was to officiate at my wedding. My grandmother, Edith Silverstein, is still alive and well (baruch hashem) living in Atlantic Beach. If my memory serves me correctly, Temple Emanuel was torn down because it was no longer in use. It was the end of an era.
