I attended PS 182 for Kindergarten in 1957. We lived across the street from it on Dumont Ave. My cousin, Helaine Donner, walked me to school. She was a 3rd grader. Does this school still exist? The only PS 182 I found on the Internet was in the Bronx. Reply #1 From: Richard Gussow (richgussow@yahoo.com) Date: 09/06/2006 I believe the PS 182 in Brooklyn closed several years ago. I attended kindergarten there in 1961 - we lived on Miller Ave between Livonia and Dumont. My mother taught at nearby PS 190 until 1990, when she retired. And I also lived on Miller, between Livonia and Riverdale. I was born in that little institution in the triangle bordered by Riverdale, Bradford and New Lotts. I was graduated from Stuyvesant HS (the old one on 15th street) in 1960. During the early 90's, I parked by the school which was already boarded up and asked some locals when it closed. Best I could get was 'a long time ago'. I'd love to get my hands on one of those incredibly elaborate doorknobs, engraved with 'NYC Board of Education'. Remember? In today's dollars, they probably cost about $50 a piece to manufacture. Reply #3 From: KNOWITALL Date: 11/22/2010 If you want ot find a specific public school in NYC, you must put in a letter after the number: PS 182K (for Kings county), Ps 182Bx would be the Bronx, Q Queens, etc. Last I heard, PS 182K had been converted to condominiums. It can be viewed on Google Earth. in Brooklyn, New York today!
